NAMASTE ! NAMASTE !

“Namaste” is the most appropriate and most meaningful salutation. It is a complete statement and its simple meaning is - “I respect you!” or “I honor you!”

In words of Pandit Ayodhya Prasad when a person greets some one with “Namaste” he or she conveys that – “With all the powers that I have in my hands, with all the affection that I have in my heart and with all the intellect that I have in my head, I greet this soul within you.”

“Namaste” is available in Vedas, Upanishads as well as in almost all ancient Vedic scriptures. Even in so-called Purans (mythological books) we find mention of Namaste as a salutation. In Garud Puran is appears 56 times, in Shiv Puran 148 times, in Devi Puran 66 times, in Kurm Puran 99 times. In all Purans Namaste is mentioned not less than 1946 times!
